but this only proves one thing: Vietnam is an autocratic state!  It is a "prestige" project more than anything.  They should use that money to build more schools, roads and bridges.  And this building is so fugly omg!

most of these tall buildings in Vietnam and the Middle east, anywhere from 30-50% is not useable and function as structural height.  That is just pathetic.  Would you build a 4 story house and only the bottom most two floors have rooms that can be used to live in? What a waste of resources.

look at how close these buildings are to each other.  I bet you can´t see anything from the top floors lol.

Or do something that benefits the common people. For example finishing one of the most important infrastructure projects in Saigon. But it seems the project could face delays again..

Quote
The owner of the Metro Line No. 1 project in HCMC in recent months has repeatedly sent urgent petitions to authorities asking for funds to pay contractors, stressing that the project may come to a dead halt if capital for the project is not ensured. Nevertheless, such urgent proposals have almost fallen on deaf ears.

Even if I live in Saigon, I would rather be in one of those small houses that surround these vinhomes.  A terrorist flying into one of these buildings is going to trap the people in the top floors. No thanks! The interiors are boring and quite small actually.  Saigon does not have enough people who can afford these apartments.  The occupancy rate will be like 15 to 25% for the next few decades.   Why would tourists come here? Shopping is the last reason, unless they are Chinese peasants, to come here.  I would rather be in the Central Highlands roasting lamb meat than come here seriously.

Agree! It's like the commie regime is pushing Vietnam to look like a industrialized nation, but in reality they're far from achieving that goal.

LandMark 81 is almost done.  Looks pretty tall.

At 461.5m (1514 ft), when completed will be taller than the Petronas Towers in Malaysia.  The tower is at the heart of the $1.5 billion high-end mixed-use ecological urban area called Vinhomes Central Park, and is scheduled to be inaugurated in 2018. The development comprises hotel and conference facilities, luxury apartments, high-end retail spaces, restaurants, bars, and a multi-story observation deck at the tower's crown.
