Future direction of Kpop aesthetics?
« on: December 06, 2017, 03:53:07 AM »
This event took place last week in late November 2017.  Korean aesthetics has stayed the same for like 10 years and gets even fuglier and more feminine with time.  Am I right or am I right?  Look at that cesspool of mindless Viet zombies.

Speaking of KPOP influence in Vietnam. This news is taking it even further.

Quote
Lee Soo Man recently revealed that SM Entertainment would be launching a Vietnamese NCT team.

He was at Hanoi's Lotte Hotel on December 5 at a forum. He said, "SM will be hunting talents in Vietnam to make an 'NCT Vietnamese Team' that will become a star not just in Asia but all over the world. We'll be creating V-pop through SM's NCT, just like K-pop."

What's "NCT"?

I think these girls/boys band are easy to create. I don't think you need major talents. If you can dance and do a little singing that's all it takes. They are going for a certain look and teeny pop appeal.

I remember Hari won started out in a girls band but it didn't take off.

I feel like a lot of inferiority complexes in Vietnam are self created.  Sadly, those with wealth in Vietnam do not use their money to create new culture but just mindlessly follow Western trends.  Even in China you see wealthy Chinese starting to support their domestic brands and culture instead of embracing everything foreign.  Maybe this will happen in Vietnam in the future?  I won´t bet my cheesecake dessert on it though.

I mean take this song.  The lyrics is full of inferiority complexes.

This guy doesn’t have the kpop aesthetics. Relatively Good looking guys don’t need it.  In Asia most performers stick with styles that work. They don’t dare divert.  Boys or girls band are commercial endeavors not creative ones. If you read about these bands they usually come about with some business groups recruiting attractive young people and pump out predictable tunes and choreography.

An interesting observation I have made is performers are usually older than their audience because it takes a level of experience and maturity to create. Teen kids listen to songs by bands who are a good five to ten years older or with some very talented ones 20 years older bc they are trend setters and continue to create into middle age.

Of course with commercially born bands this age prerequisite does not hold bc the performers are for hire.

So if you are an adult and listen to girls or boys band, I’d say you have low taste and a misconception about what is trend setting.

I think you are 22 years old just graduated from college with a BA degree in home economics.  You're too old to be listening to this.  Trying to hang on to your teenage years is just sad.

It's OK to love kpop, just don't insult people who don't like it. Loving kpop or vpop does not make you "culturally connected" nor "sophisticated". it makes you a common person.
