What is considered VPOP?
« on: December 06, 2017, 09:23:37 AM »
Is this song considered Vpop?  It has an old type of melody and style, kind of Kong Kong-ish style.

not a bad song. a bit chinesy, a bit "bolero". I think they can jazz it up with different instruments or something.

Sounds and looks cheap. I can’t stand the vocals.

Northern production is so much more sophisticated. This here is Vpop:

the Min one has better videography and instrumental accompaniment but the tune is boring and lacks originality.

Popular music from Vietnam
Chart music that follows mainstream trends, usually listened to by teenagers. The "artists" usually don't write or compose their own songs and almost always can't play a musical instrument.

It’s true that they’re entertainers rather than musicians.

So, pretty much any music created within the past year.  Any music older than one year is oldies.

My Tam, a pop star in VN.

Her recent (just a few days ago) live show in HCM city attracted tens of thousands of people, and her new album broke the sales record at the site (5000 copies sold in one hour).

Songs are not bad and she’s pretty without the kpop look. I approve.

I personally think if VPOP moves away from KPOP style influence and more to european or US music, artists will get less hate getting accused of being KPOP copycats. That's my opinion.
