Japan has the best aesthetics
« on: September 21, 2021, 01:01:41 AM »
Watching this video reminded me of japan's aesthetics

Everything theyve done in history and today are aesthetics. Competed on the level of westetners during the industrial age. Even their naming and wording are cool. Sakura; cherry blossom, ninja/shinobi: warrior spies, samurai; warrior class soldiers, katana; japanese sword, yakuza; gangsters, irezumi; japanese style full suit tattoos, karate/judo; japanese martial arts competed world wide; nippon, wa, yamato; land of the rising sun, peaceful harmony, japanese art is also aesthetics. It's like everything they do has had meaning and is soulful. Have multi billion dollar industries in technology and entertainment known worldwide. Massacred chinese. JDM. Smart engineers. They even built the hoi an bridge. Traditionalism and conservatism.

They are peak aesthetics.

I would say the Jp are the most esthetically inclined people in Asia. Being raised in a western culture I appreciate it more although I’m less self conscious than say at age 20.

For example, even well to do vnmese who brag about their piano skills and royal connections can’t seem to get proper Bathroom or bedroom sets or get proper utensils at large gathering. You would have a hundred dishes and nothing to serve them with.

In regard to the Yamato I’m not into a war equipment. You could post it’s counterparts feom America for me to compare.

I think they are much less inclined to slobbery.  Everything has to be neat and orderly.

Like when they bring out a soup at a restaurant they would have to set it in a nice manner no matter if the soup is good or not, even in a crappy restaurant.

Vietnamese soup just throws everything in a big pile.  It's like they don't care as long as it tastes good.  What's the point in making it look good when you're just gonna eat it.

This... japanese are neat and orderly, especially if you've seen their mechanic workshops. Everywhere else in the world looks dirty and unkempt. In vietnamese restaurants they always pile everything randomly, literally china tier in terms of presentation.

I remember working in a company in the US where they have a branch in Japan.  The branch in Japan always have higher yield and better quality.  The corporate leaders try to understand why and tries to implement the Japanese way by copying their cultural mindset.  They come up with the 5s methodology.

Quote
5S is a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri (整理), seiton (整頓), seisō (清掃), seiketsu (清潔), and shwitsuke (躾). These have been translated as "sort", "set in order", "shine", "standardize", and "sustain".[1] The list describes how to organize a work space for efficiency and effectiveness by identifying and storing the items used, maintaining the area and items, and sustaining the new organizational system. The decision-making process usually comes from a dialogue about standardization, which builds understanding among employees of how they should do the work.

I remember we have to clean and label everything.  We would put a label on the desk of the pencil and always put the pencil in that exact location.  Most people would think that they already know what a pencil is so why label it?  But the Japanese way is pretty methodical and machine-like.  There is no way that Americans can replicate it.  They would try it for a while then just abandon it.

The History Channel used to have many good series on battleships, including the Yamato, which is very endearing to the Japanese, not only due to its beautiful and aesthetic appearance, but also its size. It's actually the largest battleship ever built anywhere in the world even by modern standard with gun turrets that can lobe 18" shells for 25 miles, something unheard of in WW2. On its last mission, it was sent out into the Pacific with just enough fuel for a one way trip, and no fighter cover. Now, it's worth noting that during WW2, they found that battleships, no matter how large, would not be a match for air superiority. An example would be the Italian battle fleet being wiped out whole by British air raids at Tripoli, and in the Battle of Midway, if you remember, 3 out of the 4 Japanese carriers were sunk within 5 minutes. The same can also be said about German U-boats, which were very effective in sinking supply convoys in the Atlantic, but they were also highly susceptible to depth charges being launched from either the air or sea.

As for the foods, I have to say Vietnamese food is the best for the reason being that food is really an acquired taste. Many ppl can't eat durian ice cream, for example. Japanese cuisine emphasizes fresh, raw, and uncooked natural ingredients with very little blending of flavors into a finished product. In a Japanese restaurant, the most expensive item is uni, which is uncooked sea urchins. It's healthy for sure, but eating raw all the time, and you'll wish for Vietnamese foods. Here's more samplings:

Air superiority > blue navy

Germany tried to invade Britain by controlling the airspace in WW2 to avoid their navy. Jets can also traverse faster.

Is that why the vietcoms have submarines instead of destroyers and carriers?

I think air craft carriers costs a lot more than submarines.
