22,000 metric tons...wtf.  Vietnam is blessed with so much natural resources, if they stay poor in the next 50 years they should just hang themselves.

Like Brazil, Vietnam’s rare earth mineral reserves are large and stand at 22 million MT. The country reportedly hosts several rare earth materials deposits with concentrations against its northwestern border with China and along its eastern coastline. The majority of rare earths in the country can be found in primary ore deposits with a smaller amount located in coastal placer deposits.

Vietnam’s rare earths production was small in 2018 at 400 MT, but that’s double its 2017 extraction of 200 MT. Vietnam is interested building its clean energy capacity, and is said to be looking to produce more rare earths for that reason.

VN should mine some Rhodium that goes in catalytic converters.  Rhodium is $21,900/ounce, 12 times the price of gold.

My shop owner neighbor that just moved in asked me if he could park his car in my secluded and seemingly safe parking spaces so that he could have his parking space for customers.  I said sure, it will make my business look like I have customers.  Then the next day someone cut off his catalytic converter and his car sounds like a machine gun fire when he drives.  The catalytic converters costs $2500 to replace.

From about $500 an ounce five years ago, the price of palladium quintupled to hit a record of $2,875 an ounce last year, and is now hovering between $2,000 and $2,500 an ounce, above the price of gold. Rhodium prices have skyrocketed more than 3,000 percent from about $640 an ounce five years ago to a record $21,900 an ounce this year, roughly 12 times the price of gold.

they should shut down the Adidas golf gloves division and make the workers dig it all that stuff up for Vinfast electronics....btw, Vietnam has more deposits along the southern coasts that are not listed.
