I think child poverty in US is not from lack of resources but rather neglect by irresponsible parents such as those who are mentally ill or on drugs. Regardless of the source, the children need help.

they have catch, neuter, release programs for stray cats. wish we could do it humans who are unfit to be parents.

In Japan, poverty has a cultural dimension.  Single mothers and their children and the elderly make up the bulk of people living in poverty in Japan.  Japan is probably even more capitalistic than America and a lot of the things we associate with Asian family unity is gone there.

true that is an aspect of American culture that is very repulsive to me. 22 year old mother with three kids, the oldest 7 yo, no dad. I know this is a country of second chance but common, after 1 kid at 15, she should not have a 2nd chance nor a 3rd chance.
