Vietnamese Jungle Man Dies of Cancer

His body was already adapted to the environment of the jungle. The "outside" food must have killed him. He honestly should have stayed in the jungle. Or maybe it was agent orange? Virus?

Rest in peace

A 'real-life Tarzan' who lived in the Vietnamese jungle for 40 years has died of liver cancer aged 52 - eight years after he returned to the 'civilised world'.

Ho Van Lang succumbed to the illness last Monday after surviving 41 years in the jungle with his father who fled into the wilderness in 1972 when US bombing during the Vietnam War killed half his family.

The pair re-established contact with Vietnamese society in 2013 and believed the Vietnam War was still raging on when they entered a village and sought medical help for Lang's father Ho Van Thanh.

After 2013, Lang began living a relatively modern lifestyle, but some friends and observers believe the stresses and poor diet of the 'civilised' world had a detrimental effect on his health.

Lang's friend Alvaro Cerezo said that living a 'modern' life probably had fatal consequences for him after he started eating processed foods and sometimes drinking alcohol.

Cerezo said: 'I'm so sad to see him go, but for me his passing is also a liberation because I know he was suffering in the last months.

'He was a beautiful human being, to forget him will be impossible, I will miss him everyday.

'But I didn't like seeing him living in civilisation. I was always concerned that he and his body wouldn't be able to handle such a drastic change.'

The father-son duo lived for decades in the forest of what is now known as the Tra Bong District before they were found by locals looking for firewood.

Authorities say Lang's older brother Ho Van Tri encouraged the pair to return to civilisation when Thanh's health began to deteriorate in 2013. He died of an unknown cause in 2017.

The family elder Thanh once lived a normal life with his family in the hamlet of Tra Kem before the Vietnam war.

After fleeing, the pair survived in the wilderness by foraging fruit and cassava from the forest and planting corn. Rest In Peace.

The moment he disconnected himself from mother Nature by wearing rubber sandals, like the guy to his right, he's a goner.  We're not extremely affected by it because we had adapted to the condition but, make no mistakes about it, we're paying a huge price for it.  Yeah, food was the other reason he died from diseases, much like wild animals rarely if ever get sick or diseases, but that changes the moment they got domesticated and eat formulated food created by humans.

He died from liver cancer. I think a comment hit the nail on the head: Probably liver flukes or hepatitis. Makes perfect sense. People in prehistoric time didn’t have a long lifespan. Unsanitary living condition, eating you know whatever they could catch, lack of medical care. He didn’t look that healthy to start with. The father probably had a nervous breakdown and took the poor boy with him. Fact is some of the siblings were still living in society. So it’s not that they didn’t have a choice, at least the son didn’t have a choice but the father clearly disturbed.

Eating heavily process foods outside of the jungle must had weaken his immune system, thus allowing the Hep B virus to wreak havoc on the liver. Eating cooked foods ages you quicker than anything else due to a condition called leukocytosis where white blood cells are all used up in response to many foreign proteins that the body can't recognize, leaving little of them to defense against virus and bacteria. If you work in a hospital, Hep B vaccine is a requirement.

A living system like our bodies being fed with cooked food is like a car made to run with gasoline got injected with diesel.

Agree with you OJ, cooking denatures proteins, turning them into weird shapes that the body can't recognize, thus triggering leukocytosis which uses up the natural immune system, which acts as bouncers to escort unwanted microbes out of the body. I never cook oatmeal when eating them, and pouring on cold water is enough to get them to soften. The longest living ppl in the world is the Japanese, and guess what, almost everything they eat is raw.

Would contribute more on this topic, but I need my zzz, so I'll just leave with this: protein denaturation isn't always bad.  It has good usages, too.  But everything you said above is correct.

If he would have done some farming and horticulture instead of foraging he would have been healthier.
