Here Vietnam beats the Chinese at ABU Robocon 2018 (Asia´s largest intercollegiate robotic contest) to be Asia´s champion.  The Japanese got 50 years head start in robotics research and still lose to dirt poor Vietnamese from no name university.

Vietnamese ethnocentrism is based on real intellectual superiority not the faux chauvinism in the Chinese version.  Vietnam has the highest genotypic IQ and it shows up in the results with Vietnam having a total of 7 wins followed by China (5) and Japan (2).

There's actually a very comprehensible explanation to that.  It's the same reason why technology developed years later, such as a graphics card that came out 2 months ago, might not even match the specs of what came out 12 years ago.  It's because people need to make money and they have different tiered products developed to market to different types of customers.  The Japanese had a head start in robotics development but they had different uses for those robots and they excelled in making them to service their aging population.  In the current run of robots, they are trying to make them more agile and sportsmanlike so they are assigned to competing in sports, perhaps even in the Olympics.

Chinese made up 20% of the world population but only 1.7% of the internet is in Chinese.  At least with Vietnamese language on the internet, it is quite representative of our population relative to the world population at .7%.  This is not bad given that nearly half of Vietnam´s population or almost 50 million people still don´t have access to the internet.

Indonesian languages, while cover 40% of Southeast Asia, only manages .3% of the internet, tied with Thai.  Filipino is not even in the top 40.  The Philippines is some kind of cultural black hole. The funny thing here is that Vietnam today is poorer than all the other Southeast Asian countries listed but Vietnamese intellectual output and technological presence is stronger.

Surely you can't be serious.  A website can be created very simply with complete lack of experience and resources that nobody wants to look at.  I'm pretty sure if everyone on earth had a special website directly updated to the person's personal needs, habits, lifestyle, etc, only a very select few would actually get any sort of international promotion.

That's maybe due to the fact that Vietnamese are very nationalistic.

It's the amount of websites they have on the internet.  It's got nothing to do with nationalism or internationalization.  I don't even think nationalism has got anything to do with it but in terms of internationalization I find that you might want to check out what PS4 games entail when they offer certain languages above others for professional vocalization and translation.  It would speak volumes about who the game is made for and internationalization in that sense.

If you check many international websites relating to research and data collection, I always find Vietnamese language to be one of roughly 15 or so languages and possibly the only one in Southeast Asia represented.  Who are the Vietnamese people or researchers making this possible?

As you can see, Vietnamese is the most internationalized language of the internet from Southeast Asia.  Indonesians are far more numerous but they are too divided I guess among dialects.  Same with Filipinos who mainly used English.  The most educated Filipinos don´t contribute to their mother tongue but to the English speaking world.
