The government aims for 2.000.000 in 2030. That's 1 Chinese for 8 Cambodians.

It´s the new social darwinism at play.  The weaker Southeast Asian countries get colonized by China while the stronger thrives.  Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand are lost causes.  The more Chinese arrive in Vietnam, the more money Vietnamese people make.  As you can see in the news, Vietnamese people don´t wait for a paltry sum of $1 dollar tours but kidnap the Chinese and force their families pay for release.  Each week waiting, each body part gets sent back.  Most Chinese families only have one child so they often pay.  I can see more Vietnamese people engage in Chinese kidnappings for profit$ in the future.  This instills fear in new arrivals into Vietnamese territory while enriches Viet entrepreneurs.

https://www.asiatimes.com/2019/05/article/vietnamese-kidnappers-charged-with-abducting-chinese/

Filipinos read and learn:

Ten Vietnamese citizens were arrested on May 10 and accused of abducting Chinese nationals and holding them for ransom.

Police in Lang Son province arrest the 10 after they received information about four Chinese citizens who had been kidnapped a week earlier, VN Express reported. They were reportedly tricked into going to Loc Binh, where they were kidnapped and held for huge ransoms.

The 10 men arrested were aged between 17 and 27, with two other suspects still at large. Colonel Nguyen Dinh, the head of Lang Son police, said the suspects used WeChat to get to know their victims before tricking them into entering Vietnam.

The victims were allegedly handcuffed by the suspects, who were dressed as police, and then their families were contacted for ransoms. According to the police, the group had kidnapped a total of seven Chinese nationals and had taken about 215 million dong (US$9,209) in ransoms from April 21 to 28.

Nguyen noted that the victims had entered Vietnam illegally, forcing them to comply with the suspects in a bid to get home safely.

It's not Chinese colonialism.  It's your fear that your local governments are too poor to pay the full amount to get the job done properly.

Why blame Chinese business practices?  China has basically topped out on its infrastructure projects and wants to make more money by selling their services abroad.
What kind of infrastructure project that involves in moving 3 millions Chinese into another nation? Straight up colonialism to me.
