Tanka people have the same ancestry as Cantonese and other fringe groups in South China.  They have been banished from land by various Han dynasties for having fought in rebellions against Han rule.  DNA studies also established different lineage from Han Chinese.  Yet, they refused to be classified as an independent ethnic group but claim to be Han Chinese.  No different from many Han pretenders in Hong Kong and Taiwan.  Kinh people of Vietnam are still the only natives who fought Han Chinese and managed to create their own country.  I am more inclined to believe that the majority of Southern China were aboriginal territory that became sinicized.  So sad.   Would be nice to have lots of smaller nations north of Vietnam.  Come to think of it, I am beginning to appreciate the Cambodians and Laos much more now.   :)

Laos and Cambodia are practically Chinese colonies so they are not in a better position than the Sinabs

The Han Chinese only accept progressive ethnic into their realm. Backward ethnic they deem as barbarians, they will massacre and exploit. See why they want to relate to Japanese and Korean, not Khmer or Thai/Lao.

They do exploit Koreans, mainly from the North.  Nearly all the brothels near Shanghai and Beijing employ a number of Korean whores. Even in southern areas like Macau and Hong Kong, I was surprised to see the number of Korean ladies offering their services.  There are 25 million North Koreans and 24.5 million of them make less money than a Hmong in Sapa so of course the Chinese will exploit them.

Um but Chinese don't see Japanese and Korean as more progressive ethnic.  They actually don't welcome them into their realm.

So these were South Korean or North Korean? The ones being exploited in the south were these the same ones that came with the retinue of Samsung to set up doing business in Vietnam but ended up getting kicked out I wonder.  But then again many North Koreans do end up in peripheral countries like Vietnam to travel through China like vacation goers to their destination in South Korea.

I’ve met so many of these Bai Yue descendants who get so offended to be mistaken for vnmese. Sad bc mainland Chinese don’t even acknowledge them.

Exploiting is one thing, and incorporate them into Han ethnic is another thing. Let say if they conquered Korea. 50 years later they will claim Korean as Han. Same as Tibet whom they were trying to incorporate into Han realm.

The CCP is trying to homogenise China. And so far they have been successful with the mandarinization of the Sinabs. Han is a modern term, only those that are ignorant/brainwashed would believe in this Han ethnicity construct.

They, the Chinese believe that all Han who population almost 1 billion came from the same ancestor. The Han ancestor must mass breed 100 hundred children a day in order to achieve the 1 billion population.

They also believe all Han must have a similar physical appearance.

The Chinese have that kind of mentality that makes everyone dislike.

That's why they kept getting invaded, massacred and humiliated despite big size.

Han, Tai, Northern Vietnamese I freaking dislike those people. Boastful, filthy, ignorant, cunning, cruel.

I think Chinese understand that there have been various groups integrating throughout its history.  It would be unable to make television shows portraying events of WW2 by Japanese had they not been able to find people looking quite like Japanese do to portray these historical figures.  It's not like Chinese have a bunch of Japanese in their territory who sign on to be degraded in this way, rather Chinese simply have various looking people, a huge supply of them in fact that they can freely hire and then teach to vaguely say a few Japanese lines of the script and get it over with.

And same thing when it comes to portrayals of various kingdoms within China's ancient past which obtained territory in China.  The Chinese broadcasters go to those locals which are frequented by people looking a certain way and hiring them and teaching them to speak Hmong or Vietnamese or Tai or Tibetan or Uighur or Mongolian and then voila, you have a show which was about some pre Tang dynasty or Tang dynasty trying to institute law over "barbarians" or where these "barbarians" are seen in a more lovely light against their Han oppressors.
