In Vietnam ownership means leasing from the government.  This is why in the VCP constitution there numerous clauses that permit the government to sequester your property at any time for "public" use.

They can even take your land with no long term projection on what to do with it.  So in Vietnam there is no such thing as "private property" as understood in America.

While in America, my Dad can shoot any fuker that came uninvited to 1. put him in harm 2. intent on removing him from his property.  America is truly the land of the free...for now.

true, our house has been a victim twice when they decided to open up the road and took our land and paid us a pittance.

also, even though there was land on the front of the house on which to build a road, they let other people build on it and instead took our land on the back to build a road. those people must be family of the party members.

property laws can change from day to day.  In a few years, we may have a dictator in Vietnam banning all sorts of things.  Even with a junta ruling the country, I still prefer living in Thailand over Vietnam.  Gonna learn to speak Thai soon.

hippest residence in Bangkok at Icon Siam tower with decent surroundings

contrast this to the terrible view in Saigon´s hippest landmark81 vinhomes.  Unless you face the water (nasty brown dirty river not even that nice) the view of Saigon on the opposite side is that of a megaslum.  Living so high up there in the building makes one feel like a slum tycoon instead of a global elite.

The north has all the nice scenery. Saigon and it’s surrounding areas is just flat and boring.

I won't ever be deported because I was born in California.  But let's say, if I was not and it does happen, I won't cope very well.  The corruption with everyday living is too much, chaotic streets, lack of laws-regulations, etc.

Being born in California is not an absolute guarantee against possible deportation.  You can be deported even if you are born in the US unless one of your parents was already a citizen of the United States prior to your birth.
This scenario is quite rare for most 2nd generation Vietnamese in America since most of them have both parents who were born overseas and settled in America as refugees.  As a minor born in the US to non-citizen parents, there is also conditional deportation when a change in guardianship occurs.

You can also be deported for having lost your American citizenship due to subversive acts or other illegal activities, which means your default citizenship is Vietnamese since your parents were born in Vietnam.  You will not be able to claim statelessness (like Snowden) because Vietnam claims all overseas Vietnamese as citizens with at least one grandparent born in Vietnam.  This prevents you from applying for asylum as your reason for fleeing Vietnam is invalid for not having ever lived there.  There is an implicit agreement between Vietnam and the United States for these special cases as part of normalization procedures back in 1995.  I believe the constitutionality of being a non-deportable citizen for just being born on US soil will be challenged more aggressively in the future.

I won't ever be deported because I was born in California.  But let's say, if I was not and it does happen, I won't cope very well.  The corruption with everyday living is too much, chaotic streets, lack of laws-regulations, etc.

Northerners more aggressive.  Machete fight a daily occurrence.
