This kind of music is depressing. The girl is pretty. Who is she?

The state of viet Kieu music caters to the elderly as evidenced by the repeated rehash of Nhac sen. Even some new songs sound like nhac sen.

very astute observation.  This is why it is hard to get young Vietnamese kids born overseas to become interested in Vietnamese culture without becoming entangled in the commies´brainwashing apparatus.  This is why it´s better to let them see the corruption firsthand by sending them to Vietnam for summer schools.  Also, elderly Vietnamese even those claimed to be "educated" are dumb as fug and really can´t teach young people to think objectively.  I mean, you just can´t drill into them that communism is bad when they see Che T shirts worn by the hip crowds.

The V-POP scene from the Viet-Kiu community unfortunately suck azz.

This is the best we got?

Most of us live in first world countries, and should be on a whole another level in music compared to homeland.

it´s hard to explain it but yes I agree.  All these Cali and Canadian Viets rapping about stupid shiet that none of them ever lived through just exude poseurism.  I mean Garden Grove, CA isn´t really a ghetto like Compton or Detroit.  They got math clubs on every corner.

Not a bad video.

You can make the argument that viet kieu population is much smaller than in the country But otoh, artistic creations should be more prolific due to the freedom they have here.

or you can look at it in terms of competition and isolationism due to geography.  Overseas Viet groups don´t really know who their target audience is and they don´t really have peers that they have to compete with for a defined share of a certain market.  I mean among young overseas Vietnamese, how many of them even listen to Vietnamese songs? Produced overseas or in Vietnam?  That audience is quite small.

Young Vietnamese living overseas follow the trends of their host countries.  While in Vietnam, trends come and go like every week.  There are many groups that exist for any one time, some copy Western music while others copy the music of other Asian countries.  All this diversity of influences helps modernize the beat and aesthetics.  Also, Asia has a larger share of young people compared to the West.  It is also a rising region economically.  This means the region will continue to be a vibrant creative force for the next few decades.  The West is aging and losing cultural dominance.  This is why you see many new top songs produced in America come from Latin and black artists because they are a younger population than the aging white population.

I find it funny that some Western luxury brands still use old dead white hollywood movie stars to advertise their products.  Humphrey Bogart for Longines wtf?  Princess Grace for Hermes??  Steve McQueen for Persol? These people are as culturally relevant today as Windows XP.

One of the prettiest Bolero girl I would say is

Ý Linh

or maybe Phương Ý, the younger sister of Phương Anh.  Do you think younger sisters are mostly prettier than older sisters?
