Vietnamese bands must do this to get big labels
« on: October 10, 2018, 06:58:35 AM »
Even very viral vpop with high quality like soo b in, Eric, min etc... can’t break out of the SEA market. If you listen to these bands you will see the indie appeal. This article list them here. The first vid of the fili band is too disco and not that special but the rest I think are very good. Ngot, my favorite band is featured here too.

IV of Spades? It was OK. Ngot isn't my style, but this indie-viet song is good

Sounds like a disco and 80's punk mix. It's OK but they're singing in English, which undermines their language and culture.

with the exception of psy's couple of songs which made in big in Korean lyrics and Nina in the 80's. to make it big, it needs to be in English unfortunately. A good compromise to write it in both English and native language, like Nina's 99 luftbalons.

It is my wish Ngot gets big record labels but I don't think so. They're kinda stuck in that sedating, ballady style in vnmese that generally doesn't appeal international crowd/

not bad tunes and good for them for trying something different.

hard for metal bands to go abroad though. If you look at the foreign bands (other than English bands) that make hits in the US, it's alternative/indie.

They actually have been abroad, doing a concert in Busan Korea, Also, they are signed to a americal label. Small label though, but nevertheless. Metal is a niche genre so Windrunner will mostly appeal to metal fans. But the metal fanbase is huge nowadays, so they can get popular in that world.
