A small shift in Korea-Vietnam relationship
« on: October 10, 2018, 09:12:08 AM »
Don't get me wrong, koreans still are racist against vietnamese, but they seem to have open a bit positive attitude against us.

Park Hang-seo the korean coach for Vietnam soccer team made great achievements for vietnamese football and put our country in the spotlight.

Not to mention a LOT of interest for vietnamese culture from koreans. I've seen dozens of youtube videos about this:

We are copying many stuff that koreans do now, and all though the results may vary, it gets us attention overseas. That sometimes frustrates them, because of their superiority complex. Like what China has been doing against them in recent years. So Qu Don, you may be right afterall, Korea and Vietnam will be rivals in the coming years. Vietnam will still be dirt poor, but they will be able to stand on their own ground to piss of Korea, thanks to Csvn agressive pursuit of economy developement.

The only reason S. Koreans are "nicer" to Vietnamese is because their government closely monitors any deterioration in Vietnam-Korean relationship. As you know, Koreans have invested so much in Vietnam compared to other Southeast Asian countries so they are very afraid of a China-like scenario where Vietnam kick out all the Korean companies and ban KPOP.  Most of the so called Vietnam-Korea friendship videos online were heavily promoted by the Korean government through government subsidized scholarships and intercultural exchange.  So the people who make these videos are direct beneficiaries of these programs.  Koreans are less wary of Thais and Filipinos but they are just retarded because their future income depend on these countries as well.  Vietnam will eventually clash with Korea as Vietnam becomes more exposed to international competition so it´s going to get nasty real soon.

I don't know if Vietnam-Korea relationship will be as bad as koreans have with Japan and China, but I do believe Vietnam will have more to say on investement and trade. Not letting koreans dictate what we should do.

Vietnam is not like China, despite the peasant rulers share the same ideology with CCP and trying to implement the same policy. I will admit, some aspects of China's economy route is the best way for fast growth and Vietnam is doing the same as you mentioned before.

Vietnam will have a stable relation with Korea, but we will be more independent from them. It may make them mad because they can't hover over us like they do now. In order to do that, we need at least to be close to Philippines or Thailand's GDP level. Even 40% of China's would do. SaiGon, Hanoi, Nha Trang and Da Nang will be first world cities, while rural areas will still be dirt poor.

obviously Korea doesn't have the same history with VN as they did with china or JP so they don't have any historical hatred.

so while they may hate china or JP, I believe they have more respect for them.

however, as a richer country, they do in general look down on us SEA in general, not just VN I believe. Like the jpnese though they are more diplomatic in their outward bhv as evidenced by their demeaner in the various situations I have encountered with them. their attitude in general is disinterest rather than obvious derogatory treatment. that's just a more diplomatic way to show disrespect.

It's true about what you say about the japanenese. But I prefer hidden racism than blunt racism. But the japanese needs Vietnam economically as we need them for the time being.

Koreans respecting China wasn't always like that. Two decades ago when China was poor, they were treated like Vietnam are today. But now that China is the second largest economy, Korea are forced to to respect them, even if it hurts their dumb pride and superiority complex.

I think it has to do with their culture. My aunt and cousin both lived in JP for a while and they had good experience with the people they knew.

as I said at my nephew's violin recitals, they clearly were very polite. the more fobby ones sat together and talked quietly in Korean across the table from us. imagine if this was a vmese gathering, no doubt you would hear people yak, yak, yak loudly all over the place even when at a professional function.

I think vnmese should adopt certain traits that are classy from other ethnic groups. K and JP both were influenced by Chinese culture but they didn't copy this behavior from them.

Kpop is retarded.  I personally don´t mind Vietnam´s VCP ban this stupid shiet.  I think the new generation of Viet male teenagers now mostly wear lipstick...disgusting.  They copy herbivore men style of Japan and the excessive male make up trends of Korea.
