I tell you all the time not to buy from Ali baba/ aliexpress
« on: December 06, 2018, 08:24:37 AM »
Other than trinkets like cheap fashion jewelry. I ventured out and bought some clothing. Got a couple pieces that were too big but I like loose fit so it was ok.

Two sweaters both duds. The first one was a few years back $17. I just wear it at home. Just got one in the mail bc it’s the style I can’t find anywhere else. Again too small and see through and I got xl. I want a refund. They hem and haw. Well see if they don’t refund, I write a very bad review.

Alibaba I use for bicycle stuff since everything bicycle related is made in China anyways.  I´ve never tried the site for anything else.  Also, Made in China from Alibaba is like crap compared to Made in China at Nordstrom´s when clothes are concerned.

I notice that as well, the china-made items for American brands have better quality than the ones you buy from there directly.

anyway, I succumbed b/c I really wanted this style of sweater I can't find. Now they tell me it looks good. point is if customer is not happy should just work on the return. I read shipping to china is very expensive $17. The item costs $29. I suspect either they try to wiggle out of it or offer partial refund b/c I don't trust the mail system.

yeah, we sometimes forget that American stores´Chinese merchandise are for the most part authentic.  Like if the tag says 100% silk it´s probably real silk.

Now that I have experience with this sweater, I looked online so many people with similar problem. People even bought custom made prom dresses. Granted probably cheap but they turned out wrong and can’t return due to unreasonable shipping.

Coming from China shipping is nothing bc their govt subsidize it or they use bulk sea shipping whereas from the us you use airmail.

I think from now on, even when something is really unique, if you can’t find it from an American merchant, just hold off. I never buy anything over $30 from AliExpress and definitely not sweater.

I find it curious why their sizes are super small. I wear a 4/small here but I have to order xl on AliExpress. The Chinese people I know here are not small nor short. How does that work?

It´s Asian sizes which are usually two sizes smaller than American sizes.  The Japanese have a similar system, which is the reason like their dress shirts which fit me perfectly on the sleeve length.  The new European sizes make more sense since they include both a chest measurement and the height of the person intended for.  But then they put the stupid age range on it which makes no sense.  I don´t care for designated sizes or sexes that much anymore, especially for training or exercising clothes.  I fit ladies jogging pants in medium and large, depending on the brand, perfectly without any alteration, especially for popular brands like Nike and Arcteryx.  Men sizes in training clothes fit weird on me.  Designers these days get lazy so they don´t bother to feminize and masculinize the design at all, so a man´s and lady´s medium or large look identical except for the fit.  Hot pink I do try to avoid lol.    ;)
