do you think I have a good invention?
« on: February 09, 2019, 12:57:37 PM »
I was cooking steak in my house and there was smoke or kitchen smell spreading everywhere in my house, that's even with the kitchen vent fan on full blast.  Afterwards my house smells worse than the average Vietnamese cooking with fried fish with shrimp paste.  I had to open all doors and window turning my super force fan on to blow the smell out of the house.

When I went to the shower to get rid of the smell from my body, I had a revelation:  why not design a shower curtain around the kitchen vent hood.  It would trap all the gases from going out of the vent hood.  No one has thought of that yet.  Some people have an air jet to direct air towards the fans but that's crap, the smell can still escape.

Do you think I can make a hundred dollars?

Isn't that fire hazard?.. if it can prove that it will not cost fire hazard, then it might work.

1)it needs to be see through.

If the smoke becomes too much .. then it will cause more fire, it's better to stinker up the place than fire spreading..

Its no different from backyard BBQ fire girll..

You have to keep in mind that average homes ventilation isn't design to absorb all that smoke..

Its possible to filter out the smell but not the smoke
.

I think its mostly women who will but this project.. Its marketable as long as it doesn't cause fire that leads to lawsuits

It’s going to trap a lot of heat making it very uncomfortable for the person cooking. Also let’s say something caught fire while you’re cooking, you might panic and run for the sink but that cloak will just make you trip up and knock lots of things over.

Well, I plan to use plexiglass and hang it on the hood edges.  It will fold down when in use,  covering halfway to the stove surface.  The design is devised to trap the smoke under the hood and give the fan some time to suck out the smoke.  In normal hoods some of the smoke escape from the edges of the hood, maybe half of the smoke.

I tested the method by using cardboard.  Unfortunately I left the cardboard on the stove surface and it caught on fire.  I just used my hand to snuff the fire out because if I ran to the sink there would be a lot of smoke covering my eyes and I would trip and knock down my water bottle.  So, I have to issue a warning on the package, "Caution:  in case of fire, use hands to snuff our smoke."
