But she does sing OK.

Her singing is average to me.

She's a model trying to sing at a singing contest.  She just sounds average but seems natural on stage.  Does some of the passages sound kind of Chinese?

The thing about Chinese speakers when they speak Vietnamese is that they may not be able to pronounce 100% correctly some syllables like gi, d, r, ch etc...You would heard them pronounce some s/z sound instead of those gi ,d ,r , ch. There was this whole thing about this professor named Bui Hien "inventing" a new Vietnamese alphabet that tailors to Chinese speakers. No sane Vietnamese would want to learn such an alphabet but its mostly how the usual Chinese would pronounce Vietnamese words as its not their mother tongue.

I heard some people in the south pronouncing the 's' as 'sh',like 'sao' as 'shao'. I don't know if it is CHinese influenced.

Sh is actually the correct pronunciation for the s sound.

S sound is pronunciation for x.

I've never heard of anyone saying 'làm shao' or 'ngôi shao'.  I guess I'm not around too many southern people to hear them say it.
