There're going to shut down Hanoi Train street

It used to be a slum but became a tourist attraction.  But the crowds have grown to unmanageable numbers.  Someone's going to get killed.

It’s a good venue for tourists, but playing with traffic is not wise. The overriding principle is always public safety.

I don't think it's dangerous as they make it out seem to be.  No one has been killed or injured yet, unless they want to be injured.  Just draw a line for the people to stand behind when the train comes.  Or have the Cafes on the rooftops.

It's more dangerous in the street traffic with the cars and scooters.

Even most modern subway systems let you stand as close to the train as you want to be.

People getting hit by trains are very real occurrences. Statistic is once every 2 hours in the US.

In a confined space, it's very hard to get out of the way in time when there's a crowd of people blocking you.

The fact is that it looks dangerous but no safety incidents.  The only problem is controlling the crowd.  You could have a pre-run 5 minutes ahead with a car before the train comes to clear the tracks.  There are only 2 train runs each day.  The rest of the day you can setup tables in the middle of the train tracks.


I guess you could reduce the crowd by charging them $50 to go in for a train pass adrenaline rush.

Maybe hire some fast runners that can run over 20 km an hour, have them run 10 or 20 seconds ahead of the train to clear off any obstacles (humans, pets, tables...). The businesses there should pay them to do so. Tourists like to see different ways of life. Modern life or your daily life becomes boring after awhile. That's why they want to do something different.

There's a 10 minutes warning bell, and the locals have adapted to it.

Trains are not always on schedule so you have to be attentive.

Anyway, the place has already been closed. Fun while it lasted..

Taiwan also have trains going through neighborhoods.  Maybe just put up rails like in Taiwan.

Guard rail around train crossings is a great idea as it helps to minimize human errors!





Hanoi metro trains are really nice inside. The first class section even comes with sleeping cabins and food services!

I think they are shutting it down because the officials need a cut from the businesses.  The businesses have opened from the people's own home without any regulations.
