Indoors: Sprouts and sprigs
Pea, sunflowerseed etc.

Balcony: About anything due to how many sacks mould you are able to set into boxes etc. Remember cover the balcony floor! , Also a bucket is good enough for some plants.

Of course you know where you live so you also know how big it will grow etc. But on the balcony you are able to have tomatoes, strawberries, salads etc. and if your winters are warm then also even berry bushes and fruit trees. Just get to know your climate and read read some stuff how to grow each plant.

Maybe in this possible food crisis you don't have to buy all seeds, just by organic vegetables and fruits with seeds so you are having both: food and seeds for more food. Non-organic foods has not always seeds available. Dry the seeds and settle them home made seed bags for the further use. Many of them will grow after watering them later. Internet is full of tips. You can try all!

People with bigger yards usually knows what to do so no list for them but just reminder that you are always able to grow something fresh to eat even without a yard.

Mushrooms are also something what you can grow on the bucket indoors. Especially if you drink coffee, you can use coffee as soil. Otherwise it takes a bit extra money to change new soil to mushrooms.

There is great advices on the Internet just find what you like
