If it wasn't for the Vietcong there would've been no Vietnam. It will be fragmented into pieces. Beside Southern Vietnam, there will be Hmong, Chinese Montanatd, Khmer Krom indepedence movement. When the South was liberated, Vietnamese gained all territory. Vietnamese can travel across all regions without paper work. All ethnic minorities became Vietnamese.

North Vietnam was partitioned forvthe KMT Chinese Nationalist,  but Ho Chi Minh invited the French back in. He know how to chose his enemy. If the KMT settled in North Vietnam, it will be hard to get rid of them, their bases are right across the border.

All and all, the Vietcong and HCM did a fantastic job. On April 30, every year, I celebrate Liberation Day.
