First Vietnamese Mayor in Palacios, Texas

PALACIOS, Texas (KTRK) -- The coastal town of Palacios made history when it swore in its first-ever Vietnamese mayor, Linh Van Chau.

We got a look back at the challenges Chau, an immigrant, overcame to become a judge and now a mayor in the town in Matagorda County.

Chau's daughter Jennifer Kim Chau tells ABC13 her father immigrated from Vietnam after he was left essentially stranded at Fort Knox, Kentucky, while training with the U.S. Army when Saigon fell.

When Chau arrived in Palacios in 1987, he worked for years for Texas Parks and Wildlife.

While there, he spent years volunteering as a translator and mediator to help ease racial tensions between newly-immigrated Vietnamese shrimpers and the coastal fishing community in the '80s.

Chau formerly served the City of Palacios for over 25 years as the municipal judge and was the first Vietnamese municipal magistrate of the state of Texas.

Check out Mayor Chau' s facebook page; he's being congratulated by whites, hispanics and blacks.  Meanwhile, Texas democratic candidate Mohamed arrested and charged with over 100 counts of voter fraud counts.

And speaking of facebook, facebook has removed the title "President- Elect" from Joe Biden's page.  Now, Biden is indentified as a "politician".  :))

Good for him. He is proof that even an older immigrant can make it big in America.

While talking about politic is fun, but the odd for a Vietnamese to become high level elected official is less than .1%. After 45 year selling the fatherland and brownosing, and this is all we got to show for?  It is no different than a bunch of black kids dreaming of becoming a professional athletes.  Certainly it ain't easy. The chances of going pro aren't in your favor. It's something only 1% of the top 1% achieve. And to become professional, even less than .1%.  While a few black made it, most ended up retraining to the generationsl welfare  status, making babies, collecting the check, sell drugs, and killing fellow blacks .

Clearly, brownosing does not pay. I advise Vietnamese in Vietnam to not dream of becoming elected official in the U S, you will have to make lots of sacrafices, like throwing a lot of Vietnamese under the bus, yet, the chance is still less than .1% then you natively wonder why we're so poor and all hate each other.

Can we talk about Vietnamese without mentioning Chinese?  I and others here don't need to compare ourselves with other ethnics, like who give a fock.

Palacios is the third-largest shrimping port on the Texas Gulf Coast, and has proclaimed itself to be the "Shrimp Capital of Texas".  Anyone want big shrimp probably get in touch with his daughter.

The racial makeup of the city was:
57% White,
5% African American,
1% Native American,
12% Asian,
22% from other races, and 33% from two or more races.
Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 51% of the population.

So he won despite Asians were only 12% of the city.  I think his goals for the city are to eliminate MS-13 gangs,  more big shrimps, and kill VCs.

He better have good protection if he's going to wage war against MS-13, but eliminating gangs is always a good strategy.
