I'm not a big fan of viet rap, but northern accent sounds better than southern imo.

Not a fan of rap either. However,

Either accent works with rap. This guys northern accent works well because it’s not too constrained. Northern accent with a strong clip is very incompatible with rap bc rap is about getting loose. Lose clothing, lazy enunciation.

Southern accent works too as long as the singer does not talk too nasally.

I think this one is a good example of southern accent going well in rap, what do you think?

It's not that she doesn't sound nasally, but southern accent is to tonal for my ears. It's like listening to southerners arguing or angry. Cringey for me. The reason I prefer northern rapping is they don't sound tonal and more neutral. Based from the comments of Suboi's video, some share the same thought as mine.

I think with viet rap, you either like it or hate it. But it works for local vietnamese, so good for them.

I can't really distinguish rap and just yelling and screaming.

Here's the real rap and cai luong.

If they do a combination of singing in the rapping, it sounds better. Like what Suboi does here
