I got a really big hoe.

This image is really hard to find, because if you google for 'big hoe' all you find is big booties.

I expanded my garden this year. I need something to clear a bunch of weeds. This year I'm planting cotton.

what do you plan to do with cotton? You can buy raw cotton by the kilos direct from India.

I don't really know why.

I just want to see what a cotton plant looks like. It would be cool to plant it as a display piece, quite eccentric. People will be mesmerize by it because they probably have never seen a cotton plant.

Plus it makes a good bouquet.

Is there anything wrong with it?  like one sleeve shorter than the other?

My sister-in-law got's a good deal on a Saks 5th Avenue jacket for $200 at an outlet when it should cost thousands. All she can find that was wrong with it is that some stitches were torn.

that's a classic lady version of the Chesterfield coat.  Without knowing more about how it fits you, the quality of materials and construction, $237 seems like a a decent price.  I have an Attolini two button coat (knee length) with real horn buttons, roped shoulders, pure cashemere fabric and full canvassing and silk lined for $350 when it retailed for almost $10,000 so perhaps you can do better :-)

Wow you know where to shop. I looked on uk eBay. There are attolini coats in 4-5k range but best only 85% off. How did you find such a deeply discounted coat?

Well, it's a confluence of factors, low bidding price (I'm the second bidder and I won), new item in a unique color, small time seller, specialized search, etc...I shop all over the internet as it's rare that I pay retail for anything these days except for maybe foods.  You have to know your size and brands that fit you, then the materials the items made from, methods of construction and historical precedents to really understand a piece of clothing.  I rely heavily on Tailor & Cutter magazines which I consult religiously.  There's not a piece of male clothing article that has not been discussed in those pages to philosophical nausea. Of course, stores like Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus carry a range of goods with mid-tier qualities, and are accessible to anyone and they have internet catalogues which feature specific designers.  Then there are stores like Louis Boston by the waterfront, Wilkes Bashford in Bay Area, Bergdorf Goodman in NYC, Arny's in Paris, and heritage British brands and specific stores on Oxford St., Regent St, Jermyn St., Bond St and when nothing fits there's always Savile Row for custom made clothes.  To be clear, I can't afford anything in the aforementioned places nor do I entertain the notion that high price begets quality.  However, I do advise you take the time and put up with snobby salesladies just to browse the top stores in the states to see for yourself which designers/types of clothes fit you.  Then, make a wish list, and knock out each line one by one when you find internet deals.

you're a breed of your own  :)

I'm a conventional shopper girl. I shop a lot but pretty much what catch my eye on the shelf. If you get something 50% or more off, then it's a good deal. I can't tell quality very well. If something is obviously cheap I can tell but to tell if your 10K coat is better than a $1,000 coat, I probably can't tell. That's why I don't know many big names, i.e. for example, I've heard of burberry (my SIL bragged her cousin visited and bough my nephew a $500 dollar outfit, what! a $500 outfit for a one yr old boy, I still have my pic with the cutie pie wearing burberry pants). I recently went to  their store for the first time, b/c I was hanging out with a friend and her relative who was visiting from China had a strong desire to got there.  My friend had never gone into a burberry store herself before this.

So mega names like attollini, this is the first time I heard of them. I never go into snobby dept stores either but with your advice to go there for a lesion in fit and quality. Yesterday, I made a face and walked out b/c the guy at Gucci and Burberry told me I couldn't come inside with my pizza and ice latte.

So coach is still pretty uncouth b/c they let me go in with my drink. I did snatch a faux python purse for 80% off. It's leather, embossed with python print. It does look expensive though.

lol why python? A lot of python products were imported to the states from Thailand and Indonesia until they were made illegal in New York and California.  I still have picture frames made from python skin which were made in Indonesia.  That said, I still see lots stuff made from Python skin in Texas like boots and belts.  As with all designer goods you pay for the name recognition.  For every "luxury brand", I know many other brands that make better quality products which few people know about, and while they are pricy in retail, you will find them online eventually.  I waited six months for a pair of Church monkstrap but eventually I found a pair online my size and bought it for like 70% off retail.  Of course, this applies only to the states, because so much nice stuff is imported and not all find customers so overstock, tried-ons, occasional returns, etc, eventually make their way online.

Too many to list It depends what you are looking for, for what occasion, for what type of weather and the formality involved. PM me if you are looking for something specific.  I buy gifts for my girlfriend and family members so I am not a fan of sharing knowledge with random lurkers who happen to view this thread.
