Kpop invades America
« on: November 20, 2017, 11:18:30 PM »
Ok so I normally don’t post threads about Kpop, but this is the exception. History was made last night guys. For the first time ever in the history of humanity an Asian group had performed live on American national television in a major music awards. Millions of Americans have now cast their ears and eyes on Kpop for first time in their lives. Cowboy rednecks in San Antonio saw this, single moms on welfare in Georgia saw this, lumber jacks in Washington State saw this, surfer dudes with Californian sunburns saw this...

Kpop sensation BTS performing on the American Music Awards.

Not my cup of tea but I can see the kids, ie teens type going for this. If American boy band Boyz to men can be a sensation, I see a future for them here.

I don't think BTS will take over the west anytime soon, unless they drop their KPOP style, both musically and aesthetically. They would have to be something similar to Far East Movement for the audience to dig in. Masculin and more manly, not girly.

The LGBT entertainment leaders are very powerful in America so their support for the gay aesthetics prevalent throughout KPOP is very strong.  I bet they are using KPOP to make queer styles more mainstream.  KPOP is 21st century gay power!
